About the Council

The Scientific Council was established in the University on the academic year 1431/1430 by the University Council at its first meeting held on 1431/2/29 e, 2010/2/13 m, due to the importance and vital role of the Council on Scientific Affairs supervision of faculty members, research and graduate studies, publications and other scientific issues that are detailed in the system of higher education Council and Universities regulations.

Major tasks can be summarized of the Scientific Council to take action on the recommendation of the appointment and promotion decisions, scientific publishing, scientific leave, scientific sessions, the use of part-time professors, and other related issues. The Scientific Council consists of members representing the various University colleges by degree of associate professor at least in accordance with the provisions of article 29 of the system of higher education Council and Universities, the Council is chaired by the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. the University Council has the authority to include in the Scientific Council other members engaged in scientific research and scientific issues, without exceeding half of the total members. All members are appointed for two years, renewable once. The Scientific Council may form permanent or temporary committees to discuss different topics sent by the Scientific Council.

The nature of the work of the Council can be summarized in receiving different subjects University faculties or deanships and other units within and outside the University, and then forwarded to preparatory standing committees of the Council to be studied study. These committees eventually should raise their recommendations to the Scientific Council for discussion.
